Britain’s got searches for Britain’s Got Talent

Written by Cheryl Mathews

The Britain’s Got Talent live final aired this past weekend, with favourite Susan Boyle narrowly losing out to street dance act ‘Diversity’. While the show attracted a massive TV audience, the website also attracted a huge online audience for ITV.com, according to Hitwise, the company that monitors Internet usage trends.

Searches for ITV’s website increased by 100% just before the live final, which saw the website become the 36th most visited UK site on the Internet.

Robin Goad from Hitwise stated:

This was the website’s busiest day over the last three years – and therefore probably ever.

This shows a big online trend for users looking for film and TV related searches, with 15.4% of the top 300 search queries on Google News for the first three months of 2009 being for film and television.
