Google goes in search of Loch Ness Monster

Written by Cheryl Mathews

Do you believe in aliens, the supernatural and the Loch Ness Monster? Whether you do or not, you’ll be interested to learn that Google is on the case, of the Loch Ness Monster at least.

A strange shape was spotted on Google Earth in Loch Ness, which looks suspiciously like old Nessie. The image was recorded by Google’s satellite photography, and can still be seen on Google Earth with the coordinates 57°12’52.13″N Latitude and 4°34’14.16″W Longitude. It was noticed by Jason Cooke, who immediately reported it to the Sun newspaper.

You can guess how they broke the story.

loch-ness-monster-photoThe Loch Ness Monster still attracts people every year hoping to get a confirmed sighting, but Nessie always manages to evade being spotted. Recently scientists used sonar imaging equipment to try to find Nessie, to no avail. However, now Nessie has Google to contend with as the big G is sending its street view tricycle to Loch Ness to photograph the beast.

As we’re now in the world of CCTV, with cameras everywhere, and the biggest search giant on the planet, not even Nessie can avoid being pictured.

Google is off to Loch Ness today, armed with its camera, in a ‘genuine’ attempt to find Nessie as opposed to a publicity stunt geared towards promoting its street view… honest.
