Lily Allen shuns the Internet

Lily Allen shuns the InternetSinger Lily Allen has finally turned her back on the Internet, claiming she’s giving up the Internet for good. Allen has labelled herself a ‘neo-luddite’ as she’s taken an almost Amish approach to technology. Lily has given away her Blackberry and her computer, and has renounced the evils of social networking websites such as SEO Facebook Search Engine Optimisation Facebook and SEO Twitter Search Engine Optimisation Twitter, on which she would spend countless hours each day.

Lily will now just use her landline and her old mobile phone to stay in touch with friends, and she insists she won’t take her mobile out with her when she leaves the house.

Lily came to this life changing decision after her boyfriend complained about the amount of time she was spending online, and in particular on Twitter. Lily would typically post 20 or so Tweets per day telling her millions of followers what she was doing, which would anger her boyfriend Sam Cooper.

Lily stated:

My boyfriend gets really angry. He’s like: ‘I want to spend some time with you, do we have to have one and a half million people in the room with us?’

Lily signed off on her Twitter account, for good, with the following message:

I am a neo-luddite, goodbye.

Lily’s profile still has around 1.6 million followers, despite not posting any updates. Her fans may still have hope however as the Internet is very hard to give up for good, and when you’re a celebrity and you need to cultivate your public image, the Internet can be invaluable.
