New CFO named by Yahoo

Written by Carl Hopkinson

Yahoo has announced their new chief financial officer, Tim Morse. Morse is currently working as the CFO for Altera Corp, where he has worked since January 2007.

Morse said in a statement about his appointment as the CFO of Yahoo:

Yahoo is an amazing brand with a unique combination of assets, and I am extremely excited to be joining a finance team with a deep commitment to financial excellence and fiscal discipline.

Morse is one of the first major appointments for the new Yahoo chief executive Carol Bartz. Bartz aims to return Yahoo to the top of the pile, where it once proudly sat, before Google came along and usurped it.

When Bartz began as Yahoo CEO she announced she would bring with her own CFO. Bartz stated:

Tim has a proven ability to translate strategy into structure, process, and execution, and I am delighted that he will be joining my leadership team to help drive Yahoo’s growth. With his passion for operational finance, global experience, and expertise simplifying complex organizations and managing growth, Tim is a natural fit for Yahoo.

Morse will begin his Yahoo career on June 17th, but won’t take up the financial reigns as CFO until July 1st.
