Oxford v Cambridge boat race duo who sued Facebook

Written by Matt Jones

For anyone with little interest in the Oxford v Cambridge boat race, this years event may just have a little added spice. The American twins who sued Mark Zuckerberg of SEO Facebook Search Engine Optimisation Facebook, claiming he stole their idea, are in the Oxford squad.

The twins, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, were at Harvard with Mark Zuckerberg (the man who made more money than humanly possible from an Internet project). The twins claim that Zuckerberg took aspects of their website in order to make Facebook, and subsequently become the richest nerd on the planet outside of Gates mansion.

The pair, and Zuckerberg, reached a settlement in 2008 but the details of the agreement were never made public.

The twins, as well as trying to lay claim to Facebook, are also expert rowers and were in the Olympic final last year and have now made the squad for the Oxford v Cambridge boat race.

Cambridge lost to Oxford last year, and they’ll hope that the presence of the Olympic pairs finalists won’t cause a repeat this year.

We wonder if there’s a Facebook group for the Oxford team?
